Paisley’s big girl room is finally complete! Chasing after two babes has delayed my “quick transformation” into a 6 month ordeal, but it’s finished and it’s one of my favorite rooms in the house.
Besides the fact that it’s one of the only completed rooms, it is a room that I will forever hold close to my heart. So many giggles, snuggles, and story times have happened in this room. P’s bedroom is her safe haven, a place where she begs to go read, rest, and play. It makes me so excited to transition her room from a little babe’s nursery into a modern, bohemian playhouse, but it also pulls on my heartstrings. Once again, a moment that makes me realize how fast time is going.
I can’t wait to share with you all about each item we decided to put in her room and the final touches we added that tied her whole room together.
My favorite piece of Paisley’s new room is her Lorena Canal rug! Lorena Canal uses the best of raw materials and all natural dyes for their rugs, but the best part about it is it’s machine washable! Ultimate mom win!! If you want to learn more about Lorena Canal Rugs you can find it here. Our rug is the Lorena Canal 4×6 Berber Nude and I am obsessed with it. I chose a neutral rug that will go with any decor (I am waiting for the day she asks for a Frozen themed room) or that can easily be swapped to any room in the house! I have washed the rug once and all the fringe stays in place and there isn’t any unraveling of the rug.
I decided to go with a fun, bold, bohemian vibe that also has some soft, sweet, and girly touches, just like Paisley! I wanted a unique pattern for her wallpaper and I think we nailed it with the black and white brick paper I found at Home Depot.
Because the wallpaper is such a strong statement, I wanted to keep the rest of the room as simple and chic as possible. We used a dresser we had in a guest bedroom but I changed out the knobs to add some fun, modern appeal. Adding soft gold accents, greenery, and of course, a kid’s book shelf (nerd alert!) were touches that made her room feel complete.
Paisley’s favorite part of the room is what she calls her “book nook”. She always looks for a quiet, dedicated place to read and this makes for a perfect spot. She curls up in her very own rocking chair and piles books on her side table (and waits for mom to put everything away)!
When it came to decor, I wanted to be minimalistic. Adding the photo By Olima made it personal and special. By Olima makes custom art of your most precious gifts-your children! The baby is in scale 1:1, the size of the baby on the poster is exactly the size of your baby’s size. You can see more about it here. It’s a daily reminder of how tiny she was and to enjoy every moment I have with her.
Since the kid’s playroom has all of her toys and babies, I wanted her bedroom to be a simple, clean space where she didn’t feel overwhelmed. I am so happy with how it turned out and can’t wait to watch my baby girl grow up in it!
